Who We Are

Who we are
The California Music Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation led by a diverse, cross-section of people -- including California educators, musicians, arts advocates, parents, students and the business community -- all deeply concerned about the deterioration of music education in our public schools. More importantly, we are disturbed by the very real vision of a generation of children without equal access to the many enduring benefits of music education. Music is a true universal language that bridges many cultures, socio-economic status, gender and communities. CMP is committed to helping each student have the opportunity to speak the language, and with that become deeper contributors to our community. The California Music Project was established as a result of leadership and funding provided by the California Arts Council.
Vision
To help develop stronger students, schools and communities through music education.
Mission
To strengthen music education in California’s public schools through advocacy and funding of effective programs and people.
