California Arts Council

On behalf of the California Arts Council, thank you for your support of the Arts in California and music education for our children.

The California Arts Council (CAC), a state agency governed by an 11-member council appointed by the Governor and the Legislature, is dedicated to advancing California through the arts and creativity, with an emphasis on children and underserved communities.

In response to the Sound of Silence, a study showing a drop of 50% in music education in California, the Arts Council founded the California Music Project (CMP) to encourage widespread participation and public awareness of the need to retain and restore music in our schools. CMP is a partnership between the State of California, musicians, educators and businesses, and is a key component of the Arts Council’s efforts to promote music as an essential part of a well-rounded education.

With thirty years of experience developing grant programs designed to provide rich cultural opportunities statewide, the CAC will provide grantmaking expertise in the allocation of CMP proceeds from sales of CD’s and other fundraising activities.

The California Arts Council is proud to be a partner in this creative venture. As you enjoy the music on this CD, know that you are also a contributing partner to music education in California.
